Sometimes a break helps.
Stepping back and taking the time to see where you’ve not been doing the right things.
For me, it is posting the wrong content to my social media, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook specifically.
As you have probably seen from my website that you are on right now, I offer portrait, product and events photography and videography services.
But when you look at my social media, there is very little sign that I offer them services.
So, I am doing it wrong, posting generic photography of whatever I’ve liked and been happy to share out of my portfolio.
This means a change in how I conduct my photography, adding a laying of complexity, especially with portraits.
As a photography who isn’t getting clients right now, I need to go out and get portraits in a different way.
One way is Street Portraits, basically walking around busy streets asking strangers for a photograph. Which feels daunting to me, having to approach people I don’t know for a photograph. It fills me with anxiety.
Another way?
Ask people I know?
I mean, I’d love the portraits I post to be clients work, but if I have no examples of my what I can do, it’s hard to persuade them to hire me.
A way must be found for this.
Its slightly easier for Product photography, as I can just pick any product I have at home and take picture of it, yet it will limit the types of shots I can do to the amount on accessories I can use to put it in the shot. I mean, you’ve got to make the shots exciting and brand relevant right?
So, over the next few weeks, I’ll be stepping up my portrait and product photography images and online content.
Then, and only then should I expect some clients.
Thanks for reading and if you want to be a client, please get in contact.
